GOING VERTICAL: THE SHORTBOARD REVOLUTION |
- Director: David Bradbury
- Cast: Bob McTavish, Dick Brewer, Mike Hynson, Nat Young, Greg Noll, Gerry Lopez, George Greenough, and Kelly Slater
- Genre: Unknown
|
Going Vertical is the epic search to unravel surfing’s great mystery… who started the Shortboard Revolution?
The debate still rages across the Pacific - who really lit the fuse of this surfing revolution during the tumultuous 1967 ‘summer of love’ that turned the sport, literally, upside down.
Was it the Hawaiians or the Californians, or was it the brainchild of Australian surfing legend and surfboard designer Bob McTavish, collaborating with George Greenough.
Going Vertical, for the first time, tells both sides of this compelling story.
Filmed in Australia, Hawaii and California and featuring extraordinary archive footage of surf legends of the past four decades as well as the hottest surfers today, Going Vertical, is not your usual surfing film.
Set to a pumping soundtrack including tracks by Pearl Jam and Powderfinger plus iconic artists from the summer of love including Manfred Man and Thunderclap Newman, Going Vertical is the story of an era, of a revolution and the extraordinary characters who made it happen.

GURU IN SEVEN |
- Director: Shani Grewal
- Cast: Nitin Chandra Ganatra, Saeed Jaffrey, Jacqueline Pearce, Anthony Zaki
- Genre: Comedy
|
The film stars a cast of hugely talented British actors and features an astonishing debut from Nitin Chandra Ganatra (Eastenders) as Sanjay, in a role reminiscent of a young Michael Caine in ‘Alfie’, with support from Saeed Jaffrey, Jacqueline Pearce and Anthony Zaki. Guru In Seven is a modern day fable, a rock ‘n’ roll movie for the MTV generation about a desperate group of twenty-something ‘swingers’ and ‘slackers’.
Director Shani Grewal, has been compared to Tarantino and Rodriguez for his ability as a shoestring auteur and the film received rave reviews following its theatrical release. Guru In Seven had a budget of £33,000, shot entirely on location in London, Brighton, Paris and Bombay with snappy editing, a blistering east/west soundtrack and prowling camerawork – Guru In Seven is sharply observed, raw and as un-PC as it gets.
